“Snowglobe 2” by Soyoung Park

“Snowglobe 2” by Soyoung Park is a dystopian series that embodies a fast-paced examination of reality television and surveillance, drawing comparisons to works like “The Hunger Games” and “Squid Game”

The narrative picks up immediately after the cliffhanger ending of the first series, “Snowglobe”, where protagonist Jeon Chobahm assumed the identity of Goh Haeri within the confines of Snowglobe. Snowglobe is a domed city broadcasting its residents’ lives to the outside world. In this sequel, Chobahm and her fellow Haeri clones confront the architects of Snowglobe and the influential Yibonn family. The plot intensifies with elements such as rains of fire, unstable geothermal activity, and shifting alliances, promising readers a thrilling conclusion.

Soyoung Park’s storytelling continues to explore themes of identity, media manipulation, and societal inequities. The characters navigate a world without scarce forcing them to survive on their resourcefulness. The translation by Joungmin Lee Comfort ensures that the original’s nuances are preserved, making the story accessible to a broader audience. “Snowglobe 2” promises to deliver a satisfying and thought-provoking finale to the series. “Snowglobe 2” is scheduled for release on May 29, 2025.
