Product Review: Benton Snail Bee High Content Serum

In May, Buzzfeed published an article of “18 Korean Beauty Products You Need in Your Life.” One of the products, Benton Snail Bee High Content Serum, caught our attention. The product promises to help alleviate breakouts and acne scars as well as brighten skin. Since it was considered a must-have, we tried the Snail Bee Serum to see if it lives up to the hype.

Use

After cleansing skin, squirt two-to-three drops of the serum and spread evenly onto your fingertips. Then, tap the serum into skin, taking extra care around the eyes, T-zone, and jawline. Tap more product into skin if needed. Layer another snail or Snail Bee moisturizer on top to help enhance the benefits. The serum can be used under makeup or as part of a nightly routine with a water pack.

Impressions

One of the pros of the Snail Bee Serum is that it isn’t messy and it absorbs quickly into skin. The product leaves skin feeling soft and supple when it’s initially applied, but the softness does wear as the day goes on, which is why it’s preferred as part of a nightly moisturizing routine. When used during the day, it does help makeup glide on easily for a smoother appearance.

Within the first week of use, there wasn’t a lot of noticeable improvement. There are plenty of reviews online that suggest the product works within the first day to reduce redness and blemishes, but I did not find this to be the case. However, the product did seem to work with continued use, so within two-to-three weeks, there were slight improvements to my skin.

Among the noticeable improvements include how my skin appeared smoother. There were improvements to redness, so this is a plus. However, the redness reduction was really visible following a sunburn because the product did help alleviate the negative effects. With normal skin redness and irritation, this product didn’t seem like it worked quickly, but it is one I would keep on-tap for sunburn relief.

The serum promises to brighten skin also. During the trial period, there was some brightening, but it wasn’t drastic. I did feel like I looked more refreshed and awake. I will point out, at least in my experience, that if you skip a few days, skin will begin to breakout and look rundown once more. Apparently, it gets better with each use and does enhance skin more than anticipated. Results may not be typical.

For a small bottle, a little does go a long way. After a month, there is still over half a bottle left, so you can go the distance with this serum.

The Verdict

The Benton Snail Bee High Content Serum is a nice addition to a skincare routine. It’s easy-to-use, and a little goes a long way. Some consider it to be a miracle product. It’s a good serum, but it’s not a miracle.

The Verdict: It’s a keeper, but don’t expect miracles.
