LEX and LANA, a charismatic brother and sister pairing from Japan who are leading a new generation of hip-hop artists, have released a new collaboration song today, titled ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’.
Following the success of ‘AKARUIHEYA’, which stole the attention of the hip-hop scene when it was released earlier this year, ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ is the second collaboration song from this commanding brother-sister duo. While ‘AKARUIHEYA’ spoke of evolving from a dark past to lead a bright future, this new song takes in the universal themes of communication typical of LEX and LANA, such as misunderstandings and reconciliation, set to the evocative motif of ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’.
A music video also premiered on the same date. With its striking colors and fitting thematic nods, the video depicts the two artists performing while seated at an eccentrically laden dining table, reflecting the message of the song.

LEX is a hip-hop artist born in 2002 in Shonan, Kanagawa Prefecture. His natural mellow voice and raw, emotional lyrics contrast with his aggressive songs, earning him a strong fan base, especially among younger music fans. He began uploading songs to SoundCloud at age 14, and made his surprise debut in April 2019 at age 16 with his first album, ‘LEX DAY GAMES 4’. He released his second album ‘!!!’ in December 2019 and his third album ‘LiFE’ in August 2020. In 2021, he made guest appearances on tracks by BAD HOP and JP THE WAVY, and released the collaboration EP LEXBEX with London-based artist BEXEY, as well as the joint EP ‘COSMO WORLD’ with Only U & Yung sticky wom from Yokohama, further boosting his momentum. His August 2021 single ‘Perfume’ featured JP THE WAVY, and was followed a month later by his fourth album, ‘LOGIC’. Riding high on a wave of critical acclaim, that year he won the GQ Men Of The Year Award for Best Breakthrough Artist.
In March 2022, LEX released ’20 (Complete Mixtape)’, a compilation of his early SoundCloud recordings and unreleased songs. In April, he released his last single as a teenager, ‘Rich Woman, Poor Me’, and in January 2023 he released his fifth album, ‘King Of Everything’. In April 2024, he teamed up with his younger sister LANA to release the single ‘AKARUIHEYA’, and headlined the hip-hop festival POP YOURS.

LANA PROFILE
LANA was born in Shonan, Kanagawa Prefecture. In 2020, she began uploading songs to SoundCloud, and her fresh yet powerful vocal ability and lyrics about daily life as a teenager drew attention from music fans, sweeping the charts. This led to LANA being inundated with work offers from both Japan and abroad, and she started producing songs with trackmakers and rappers, appearing on numerous songs as a featured artist.
While her music is based on hip-hop and R&B, LANA is a borderless and genreless talent with a unique sense of melody and a husky voice that is hard to forget. She began releasing songs in earnest in 2022. Her smash hits to date include ‘FLAME’, a fresh track that penetrated the mainstream; ‘PULL UP’, which combined dance trends with iconic Japanese “gal” vibes; the megahit ‘TURN IT UP (feat. Candee & ZOT on the WAVE),’ which transcended the rap scene and dented the upper echelons of the J-POP charts; and ‘L7 Blues’, a song about her past suffering and current progress over an up-tempo beat based on baile funk.
Last summer, LANA released the EP ’19’, which included the new dancefloor banger ‘BASH BASH’, generating a ton of attention. And on her latest EP ‘19.5’, she presented a new style of youth anthems with elegant vocals juxtaposed with hard rhythms and strong street elements.
