Celebrity-Only-Gate at Incheon Airport

Incheon International Airport Corporation is said to be opening a celebrity-only gate by the end of October.

According to reports, Incheon International Airport Corporation sent an official statement to entertainment agencies informing them about the celebrity-only entrance and exit at the airport. In the statement, the airport stated that to improve efficiency and avoid inconvenience while promoting safety for all passengers, a separate entrance and exit gate for artists would be ideal.

This comes in the wake of the July incident where actor Byun Woo Seok’s security was criticized for overusing its privileges. Due to the large crowd of fans and reporters, Woo Seok’s security was forced to block the airport gate and flashlights on passengers’ faces causing inconvenience at the very least. Afterward, the security company’s head and a security guard were charged without detention.

In the official letter, the airport highlighted that with the increasing global eminence of Korean artists, instances of fans crowding at airport terminals are bound to happen again. As such, to avoid inconveniences to and ensure the safety of other passengers, the airport has resorted to having a separate reserve gate for artists. The use of reserved gates is scheduled to take effect from October 28, 2024.
