On July 30, 2019, Mexican authorities announced they arrested a suspect in connection to the death of Jose Arredondo. Arredondo, a businessman from Bakersfield, California, is the father of K-Pop singer, Samuel Kim. According to authorities, 50-year-old “Roberto N.” from Hildago, Mexico was taken into custody. The suspect was originally considered a missing person by his family. The Attorney General of the State of Baja California Sur confirmed the arrest along with the Arredondo family’s attorney. On July 29, 2019, Big Hit Entertainment, the company behind global phenoms BTS, announced that they acquired Source Music. Source Music, which is the home of Gfriend, will be an independent subsidiary under Big Hit. Kyoto, Japan: A suspected arson attack has left 34 dead and 34 injured at Kyoto Animation (KyoAni). According to CNN, the attack is Japan’s worst mass-killing in over 20 years. In 2001, an arsonist killed 44 people in Tokyo. Among those dead include 12 men, 20 women, and one person whose identity is unknown. Their ages ranged from their 20s and 30s.
