In a sad piece of news, actress Han Ji Sung, 28, was killed in a three-car crash early May 8, 2019. Initially, Han’s name was not released.
According to reports, Han and her husband pulled over on the right lane of the Incheon International Airport Expressway, so her husband could use the bathroom. While he was away, Han exited the vehicle and was then struck by two cars in succession. According to the police, the vehicle’s warning lights were on.
According to Allkpop, Han was struck by a 56-year-old taxi driver and a 73-year-old male driver. Both may face charges in Han’s death.
Police are investigating why Han didn’t pull over on the shoulder and why she may have stepped out of the vehicle. However, since Han was killed on-impact, that answer may never be known.
“When I returned to the car after using the restroom in the vicinity’s bushes, the accident had already happened,” Han’s husband told the police.
Han’s acting resume included roles in the dramas Happy Sisters, Moonlit Gymnastics, Second to Last Love, and the film Sori: Voice from the Heart. She also had a role in the upcoming film, One Punch.
Prior to acting, Han got her start in Harvest Entertainment’s 2010 idol group B.Dolls where she went by the name Seo I. She appeared in the MV for “Winter Story,” the group’s second release. B.Dolls has been inactive since 2011 and is considered disbanded even though an official announcement was never made.
“Han Ji Sung left us in a tragic accident. She was a wonderful actress who had a great passion for acting. She had so much ahead of her in the future. It’s such a shame she passed away so suddenly,” one of Han’s acquaintances said.
We send our condolences to her friends and family.
